Problem
When you create an .exe that has an internal .msi in the Build options page, but you do not add in a prerequisite to the Prerequisites page, the version number from the .msi is transferred over to the .exe and appears in the Version tab. If you follow the steps below (add in a prerequisite), the version is not carried over, and a default version is entered (1.0.0.0):
- Open a package.
- Go to the Build Options page and select Single file exe from EXE options.
- Add in a prerequisite such as Notepad in the Prerequisits page by adding the Add button and browsing for the prerequisite.
Environment
Wise Installation Studio/Express 7
Wise Package Studio 7.x
Solution
This issue has been fixed Wise Package Studio 7 SP3 and will be fixed for the next release of Wise Installation Studio\Express 7.
Workaround:
After a prerequisite is added to the package, a .wse file is created and can be edited. Open the .wse and add the correct version number into the Version field in the General Information link in the .wse.
