Solution



This is the LBN for the Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions 4.x Windows. This includes Storage Foundation for Windows (SFW), Storage Foundation HA for Windows (SFW/HA), Storage Foundation-Disaster Recovery-formerly the Global Cluster Option (SFW/DR), and the Veritas Cluster Server for Network Appliance Snapmirror products.

On June 2, 2010 Symantec has removed all 4.x installation packages for the Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions for Windows product suite from external download locations.

Standard Support for all 4.x versions of Veritas Storage Foundation and HA Solutions for Windows products ENDED on January 31, 2010. These versions are currently in Partial Support and the full End of Support Life will occur on June 18, 2011. Please consider upgrading from these legacy versions as soon as possible. Also see technote 287170 for more information in the Related Documents section below.

If there is a reason that you require download access to the legacy 4.2, 4.2RP1, 4.2RP2, 4.3, 4.3MP1, or 4.3 MP2 versions of Veritas Storage Foundation and HA Solutions for Windows, please contact technical support.

Existing installations should be patched to to address changes in third party code. The patch for existing installations of the versions mentioned above can be downloaded from: https://vos.symantec.com/patch/detail/3797 

On April 30, 2007 Symantec released Veritas Storage Foundation (tm) 4.3 Maintenance Pack 2 for Window. This version includes support for 64 bit platforms, Microsoft Windows 2003 Service Pack 2, feature enhancements, and several fixes to issues discovered in prior versions of Storage Foundation.

In addition, the Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions 4.3 Maintenance Pack 2 release includes several fixes for items in the 4.3 release and all fixes that are in Maintenance Pack 1. See the Maintenance Pack 2 Release Notes for more information on these fixes:

Following are late breaking notices regarding 4.3 Maintenance Pack 1:

  • If you are planning to use VERITAS Storage Foundation (tm) HA for Windows 4.3 MP1 or MP2 to make your NetBackup 5.1 servers highly available, you must follow the instructions in the Release Notes section entitled "Clustering NetBackup 5.1."
  • Installing 4.3 Maintenance Pack 1 creates a new VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.3 Maintenance Pack 1 for Windows entry in the "Add or Remove Programs" list but does not remove the existing VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.3 for Windows entries.  Do not use the Remove button to delete the VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.3 for Windows entries as this action will remove Storage Foundation for Windows or Storage Foundation HA for Windows from your system.
  • Installing 4.3 Maintenance Pack 2 creates a new VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.3 Maintenance Pack 2 for Windows entry in the "Add or Remove Programs" list but does not remove the existing VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.3 for Windows entries.  Do not use the Remove button to delete the VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.3 for Windows entries as this action will remove Storage Foundation for Windows or Storage Foundation HA for Windows from your system.
  • If you need to add or remove components from your Storage Foundation installation after installing Maintenance Pack 1 or Maintenance Pack 2, follow the procedures detailed in the Release Notes.
  • The issue with NBU 6.0 MP1 and SFW4.3 MP1 has been resolved, and is no longer an issue.  Those two products can co-exist.
  • There have been several updates to the DDI packages released.  The newest DDI package can be found at the link below. Device Driver Installation Package 5.3 (DDI-5.3) for Veritas Storage Foundation (tm) 4.3 MP1 and MP2 for Windows.
  • There is a patch for VCS-for-Network Appliance SnapMirror that will allow it to use newer versions of Snapmirror.  The link can be found below.
