Hotfix 6: Reregistration of Recovery Agent accounts after upgrade are causing user account lockouts

Issue



Reregistration of Recovery Agent accounts after upgrade are causing user account lockouts. In some environments where strict network policies exist, these "invalid" attempts during reregistration after upgrade are causing user lockouts.

Environment



Recovery Solution 6.2.2760 (SP2)

Cause



Recovery Agent registration attempt with empty password is termed as a "invalid" attempt.


Solution



This hotfix for the Recovery Solution silent registration has been implemented to prevent any possible lockouts caused by registration to occur. The hotfix can be applied the following way:
  1. Stop the Recovery Solution Agent service on the client computer.
  2. Browse to %Program Files%\Altiris\Recovery Solution Agent folder
  3. Replace the old AeXRSAgt.exe with the new one from the attachments.
  4. Start the Recovery Solution Agent service on the client computer.

Note: AeXRSAgt.exe also need to be updated to the Data1.cab. The Data1.cab needs to be updated so that new Recovery Agent installations will have the hotfix. It can be modified using ASPack.exe utility. More about ASPack.exe is available in article 24583.
