Environment

Recovery Solution 6.2.2760

Cause

Security record corruption in the database causes re-creation of DTFs during snapshots and incorrect memory allocation during re-creation of DTF results in the Recovery Server running out of memory which results in an AeXVault.exe application crash.

Solution

This hotfix is in the form of DSFile.dll. The hotfix can be applied by doing the following:
  1. Stop the Recovery Solution Server Service.
  2. Browse to %Program Files%\Altiris\Recovery Solution\Server folder on the Recovery Server.
  3. Replace the old DSFile.dll with the new DSFile.dll from attachments.
  4. Restart the Recovery Solution Server Service.
  5. Stop all scheduled snapshots and start Integrity Check with Delete lost protected data files, Delete unrecoverable protected data files, and Perform CRC enabled options. This will allow all the security records corruption to go away.
  6. Wait until the Integrity Check Job finishes.
  7. Enable all scheduled snapshots after Integrity Check Job finishes.
