Issue



After removing and reinstalling the Notification Server to an alternate location (In this case, from C: to D:), the following error shows up repeatedly:

Description: Unhandled exception.  Type=System.Web.HttpException Msg=Exception of type System.Web.HttpException was thrown.
StackTrace=
   at System.Web.HttpApplication.MapHttpHandler(HttpContext context, String requestType, String path, String pathTranslated, Boolean useAppConfig)
   at System.Web.MapHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication+IExecutionStep.Execute()
   at System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously)

Inner exception.  Type=System.IO.FileNotFoundException Msg=D:\Program Files\Altiris\Client Task Management\Web\Server\Register.aspx


Environment



NS 6.0 SP3 + R8

Task Server installed.


Cause



In this case, The NS was looking in the old directory structure setup for the Register.aspx file. The old Folder locations were found under <InstallDrive>\Program Files\Altiris\Client Task Management and <InstallDrive>\Program Files\Altiris\Task Management.

Solution



Please note that Installing Task Management Solution 6.x to a drive other than C: is not supported.

As a workaround, you can attempt the following at your own risk:

  1. Remove the following components from Add/Remove Programs:
    1. Altiris Client Task Management
    2. Altiris Client Task Server 
    3. Altiris Task Management
  2. Delete the following Folders in the file system:
    1) <InstallDrive>\Program Files\Altiris\Client Task Management
    2) <InstallDrive>\Program Files\Altiris\Task Management
    3) <InstallDrive>\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Client Task Management
    4) <InstallDrive>\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Task Management
  3. Re-install Task Management Solution from Solution Center in the Altiris Console
