Issue

Updates not downloading on the client. Software Update Tab/Update/Download History shows a list of failed downloads for the update.

Client Log shows: Error while downloading package: No package sources returned by server (-2147023728)

Environment

PM 6.2.3644

Cause

In this case, the bulletin was staged and tasked, and was setup on the Software Update Task to push ASAP.

The Client communications found the update was ready and began downloading. However, the Package Server/Multicasting Clients did not yet receive the update download yet, so the error was thrown when the client was attempting to download the update.

Solution

Simply waiting for the download source (i.e. Package Server) to receive the update, and then the Client was able to download the update and install it.

Note: Although, the Patch Management Inventories may be set too aggressive and this could have caused the Client to receive the update task before it was ready for download. Setting these to default of every 4 hours may resolve this waiting period.
