Rolling out the recommended DeskView Agent does not work for some systems

Environment



The Install Recommended DeskView Agent policy does not work on certain systems, for instance:
  • ESPRIMO Mobile U9210
  • ESPRIMO Mobile X9510
  • ESPRIMO P5730
  • LIFEBOOK P8020

Cause



A format of the Best Fit file xml that is included into DeskView for Business Clients 10.7 prevents the DeskView Agent from installing on certain computers. 

Solution



You can use the Home > DeskView > Agents and Plug-ins > DeskView Agent 6.23.xxxx - Install policy to install the DeskView Agent to these computers.

If you want to use the Install Recommended DeskView Agent policy, do the following:

  1. Download and extract the new Best Fit file that is attached to this article.
  2. Import the new Best Fit file into DeskView.
    Use the Home > DeskView > Configuration > Import Best Fit File page to import the new file. For more information, see the Fujitsu Siemens Computers DeskView User Manual.
    After you import the new file, the version of the file that is displayed on the page must be 6.23.0118.
  3. Turn off and save the Home > DeskView > Agents and Plug-ins > Install Recommended DeskView Agent policy.
  4. Then turn the policy back on and save it.
    The client computers download the new policy, all computer models are now detected and the DeskView Agent installs.
