How to run a Backup Exec Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) database repair when the original database is found to be inconsistent/corrupt.


Solution



To repair the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) database for Backup Exec DLO, perform the following:
 
1. Close Backup Exec
 
Note: Do not stop the Backup Exec services.
 
2. Go to the <Drive Name>:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT directory (default location), and double-click on BEUtility to run it
 
3. Expand Known Media Servers, right-click on All Media Servers, select New Media Server, enter the name of the media server, and click OK
 
4. In the right window pane, select the Backup Exec media server, and then click Repair Database from the Database Tasks options in the left window pane (Figure 1)

5. From the tab Database instance, choose Desktop and Laptop Option (Figure 2)

6. The Operation Progress dialog box will appear, indicating the process of repairing the database (Figure 3)

7. On completion, click Close. Select the File | Exit menu option to quit BEUtility.
 
8. Start Backup Exec
