GENERAL ERROR: A user has been granted "job" permissions in VxSS, but is not able to launch to the Windows Administration Console to view jobs. The error "Unable to connect to the selected NetBackup host " is displayed.

Error

Unable to connect to the selected NetBackup host .

Solution

Overview:
A user has been granted "job" permissions in Veritas Security Service (VxSS), but is not able to launch the Windows Administration Console to view jobs.  The error "Unable to connect to the selected NetBackup host <server_name>" is displayed.

Troubleshooting:
In VxSS, the "Host Property" permission must be granted for a user to launch the console.  This permission, in addition to the "job" permission, must be granted to allow a user to launch the administration console and view jobs.  When the console is launched, the "Host Property" permission is needed to query the local host.

Resolution:
Ensure that the user requiring access to view jobs in the console has been granted "Host Property" permissions from within Access Management, as well as "job" permissions.  For specific details on configuring these permissions, see the "Determining Who Can Access NetBackup" section of the Veritas NetBackup (tm) System Administrator's Guide, Volume II for Windows, referenced below.
