Issue

MS09-062 KB972581 fails with an Exit Code 17031.

Manually ran the update returns the message: Expected version of the product was not found on the system

Environment

Patch Management for Windows versions 6.2 SP1 and 7.0 SP1

Cause

The Office Compatibility Pack 2007 SP1  - Inv Is Applicable rule is not evaluating enough criteria.  Some Microsoft updates are updating files like MSO.DLL high enough to trigger the inventory rule into a true state, saying that that SP1 is installed when it is not.

Solution

This was originally fixed in PMImport versions 6.2.1264.0 and 7.0.1264.0 (November 2009 2nd week build).

This has been modified to account for "Office Compatibility Pack 2007 Gold" in PMImport versions 6.2.1297.1 and 7.0.1297.1 (December 2010 2nd Week)
