"Update compliance of client computers that are ready to receive updates" webpart does not work properly with DCM 3.1 and SMP 7.0 SP3

Problem

DCM will not load the "Update compliance of client computers that are ready to receive updates" web part in Dell Client Manager 3.1 once Symantec Management Platform 7.0 SP3 is installed.

The webpart will display the following error in its frame:

"Symantec Management Server Error

An error has occurred that prevents Symantec Management Console displaying correctly"

Environment

Dell Client Manager 3.1

Symantec Management Platform 7.0 SP3

Cause

Changes to the Symantec Management Platform 7.0 SP3 make the web.config no longer compatible. This is a product defect that will be resolved permanently in a future build of Dell Client Manager.

Solution

The current workaround to this issue is to replace the web.config for Dell Client Manager 3.1 once Symantec Management Platform 7.0 SP3 has been installed.

The current web.config can be found here:

c:\Program Files\Altiris\Dell Client Manager\Web\web.config

Replace this web.config with the one attached to this KB to resolve this issue.
