Backup Exec 9.1.1158.9 Remote Agent for NetWare Servers

Solution

This download contains the Remote Agent for NetWare that is included in the Backup Exec (tm) 9.1.1158.9 for NetWare Servers product. It is included here as a separate download for the convenience of Backup Exec for Windows Servers users who would like to download and install an updated Remote Agent for NetWare Server without having to download the entire Backup Exec for NetWare Servers product.

This Remote Agent for NetWare Servers is for use with:

  * Backup Exec 9.1.1158.9 for NetWare Servers
  * Backup Exec 10.1.5629 (10d) for Windows Servers Hotfix 20
  * Backup Exec 10.0.5520 for Windows Servers Hotfix 26
  * Backup Exec 10.0.5484 for Windows Servers Hotfix 33

Note:  This release of the Remote Agent for NetWare Servers provides a resolution for the Symantec Security Advisory SYM06-004.  Please see the related documents section for more details.

Installation Instructions:
Copy the downloaded files to a folder on the workstation and run the self-extracting file.
Run SETUP.EXE from this directory and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
Note: If this Remote Agent for NetWare is going to be used with Backup Exec 10.0 for Windows Servers, please make sure to select the Evaluation Install. There should already be a serial number associated with this Remote Agent for NetWare Servers at the media server so it is not necessary to enter it again at this point. Also, the serial number for the Remote Agent for NetWare Servers that came with the Backup Exec for Windows Servers will not work with this version of the installer. The dialog where the Evaluation Install must be selected is shown in Figure 1.

Note: This installer for the Remote Agent for NetWare assumes that it is being used with Backup Exec for NetWare Servers. As a result, after the Remote Agent has been copied to the NetWare server, the NDMPSVRS.DAT Update dialog comes up and asks the user to Select the media server(s) that will protect this remote server. This step is not required for the Backup Exec for Windows media server. The installation should be canceled at this point.
