Problem
Enterprise Vault (EV) Synchronization for Exchange Mailbox Archiving Tasks and Services
Solution
EV keeps details of the Exchange Server mailboxes. The details are maintained by the Mailbox Archiving Task (version 6) and Mailbox Archiving Service (version 5). By default, the Mailbox Archiving Task or Mailbox Archiving Service updates the details of all mailboxes every day at 12am and 12pm. This is known as synchronization.
If the midday and midnight synchronization are not acceptable, the task or service can be modified to reflect a satisfactory schedule.
To edit the mailbox synchronization times follow the instructions given below:
1. In the Vault Administration Console (VAC) expand the Computers (version 5) or the Enterprise Vault Servers (version 6) container and select the required EV server.
2. Expand Tasks or Services.
3. Double-click the Mailbox Archiving Task or Service to display the Properties page.
4. Click the Settings tab.
5. Select the desired synchronization schedule.
6. Click OK to close the properties window.
To synchronize mailboxes outside of the scheduled times perform the following:
1. In the VAC expand the Computers (version 5) or the Enterprise Vault Servers (version 6) container and select the required EV server.
2. Expand Tasks or Services.
3. In the right hand pane, double click the Mailbox Archiving Task or Service for the Exchange server, to display the properties window.
4. Select the Synchronization tab. Make sure All mailboxes and Mailbox properties and permissions are selected as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2.
5. Click Synchronize.
6. Click OK to close the properties window.
