Problem
How to force re-archiving of items that have previously been archived or deleted in Enterprise Vault (EV) for Sharepoint v6sp1
Solution
The EV SharePoint archiving task does not re-archive items
that have previously been archived or deleted - however it is possible to force
a re-archive as detailed below:
Cause:
This issue is caused by the timestamps that have been associated with the document libraries, which prevent the EV SharePoint archiving task from re-archiving those items.
Resolution:
The archiving task can be forced to ignore these timestamps through a change to the archiving policy associated with the SharePoint site. Any change to the policy will invalidate the timestamps and the archiving task will then process the entire site again. Making a temporary change to the archiving policy associated with the SharePoint site should cause all the items to be re-archived.
Note: Be aware of the possible performance impact of forcing an entire site collection to be re-processed.
Steps:
It is advisable to change something other than the policy name, for example changing the setting from 'Prune to n versions of the document' to 'Prune to 9999 versions of the document' or to 'Leave the document in SharePoint'.
1. Change the pruning setting as described above.
2. Run the SharePoint archiving task - which should re-archive everything.
3. Change the pruning setting back to the original value and continue as normal.
