How to migrate a NetBackup or Backup Exec Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) Media Server to another Server with a different name

Solution

The following steps must be followed when moving the DLO Media Server to another server with a different name.
NOTE: Prior to following these steps,  the server, database and all user files from the Network User Data Folder (NUDF) should be protected.

1) New server: install DLO.

2) On old server: use service control manager to shutdown MSSQL$DLO for NBU, or
MSSQL$BKUPEXECDLO for BE.
For the Backup Exec 11d onwards SQL Server (BKUPEXEC) service.

3) On new server: use service control manager to shutdown MSSQL$DLO for NBU, or
MSSQL$BKUPEXECDLO for BE.
For the Backup Exec 11d onwards SQL Server (BKUPEXEC) service.

4) Copy BE_DLO in X:\Program files\<veritas or symantec>\<NetBackup DLO or
Backup Exec>\Data (Where X: stands for Drive in which Backup software is installed) from old server into same directory on the new server.

5) On old server: use service control manager to start MSSQL$DLO for NBU, or
MSSQL$BKUPEXECDLO for BE and NetBackup DLO Administration Service or BE DLO
Administration service.
For the Backup Exec 11d onwards SQL Server (BKUPEXEC) service

6) On new server: use service control manager to start MSSQL$DLO for NBU, or
MSSQL$BKUPEXECDLO for BE and NetBackup DLO Administration Service or BE DLO
Administration service.
For the Backup Exec 11d onwards SQL Server (BKUPEXEC) service.

7) Use the following command line utility on the old server to move all clients
to the new media server from X:\Program files\<VERITAS or Symantec>\<NetBackup DLO or
Backup Exec>\DLO (Where X: stands for Drive in which Backup software is installed).
DLOCommandu -ChangeServer -M <media server> -A

The new server is now ready to protect the DLO Clients. To test the new server and configuration an alternate folder restore of previously backed up data should be done.
