Problem
Email notification fails without returning any error messages.
Solution
While setting up email notification, you may find that testing the email notification appears to work in Symantec Backup Exec (tm), however, no email is sent nor do any error messages appear. This problem can be caused by exceeding the mailbox size limit imposed by the Exchange server. This often occurs if the mailbox created for Backup Exec is a member of any distribution lists. To resolve this problem, first follow these steps:
1. Log in to the backup server with the Backup Exec service account
2. Open Microsoft Outlook.
3. If prompted for a profile, select the profile specified within Backup Exec
2. Open Microsoft Outlook.
3. If prompted for a profile, select the profile specified within Backup Exec
Confirm that the mailbox is full. At this point, it is possible to save all of the items in the mailbox to a .pst file, delete them entirely, or modify the Exchange server to accept more messages in each mailbox.
To save all items to personal folders, refer to the steps mentioned in the following Microsoft article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829971
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829971
Finally, it is possible to change the limits placed on mailbox size. For more information, refer to the following Microsoft Documentation.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319583/
If the test mail notification also fails without an error message, perform the below step
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319583/
If the test mail notification also fails without an error message, perform the below step
-Test smtp port# 25 using Telnet. Check the related articles to perform this step.
Else the issue can be related to 'Receive connectors' on the SMTP server that the user is trying to send emails. Please refer the related article for Delayed notifications.
