How to create a new Vault Store Partition in Enterprise Vault (EV).

Solution

A single Vault Store can be divided into a number of partitions, which can be on different Storage Types. As the vault store grows additional partitions can be added to extend the available space.

A vault store can have only one open partition, which is the partition into which all new items are archived. The status of a partition can be changed from Open to Closed at any time and in EV 8.0 have a new status of Ready.  It is only possible to have one open Vault Store Partition in each Vault Store.

Resolution:

Follow the instructions below to create a new partition in an existing vault store:

1. In the Vault Administration Console (VAC), expand the Vault Stores container, right-click the vault store and, on the shortcut menu, click New and then Partition as shown in Figure 1:

2. On the Welcome page, click Next as shown in Figure 2.

3. Enter a Name and Description for the new partition and click Next as shown in Figure 3. In EV 8.0 a new feature was introduced that Partitions have the option for auto rollover. To enable a partition during creation for Auto Rollover select the option for "Create this new partition" and choose the option of Ready as shown in Figure 4.
