How to restore Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) backed up files to alternate computer by non-admin user

Solution

It is recommended that permissions on the Network User Data Folders (NUDF) be managed using the Permissions dialog that can be invoked from the DLO console. Assigning permissions to NUDFs manually is an error prone and time consuming process.

Permissions to NUDFs can be managed in one of the following ways:

1. Use the "Permissions" dialog to enable automated permissions management in DLO. This way is most recommended.
2. Grant the domain user administrative rights to the systems hosting the NUDFs

Symantec does not recommend manual assignment of permissions on the NUDFs to role-based administrators in DLO. Restore of data using the option "restore to alternate computer" may not function as expected if permissions are assigned manually.
