5.0 Phase III on Linux for IBM System p Known Issues
The Cluster Server Daylight Savings Time patch for this release is available at http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/290335
The Storage Foundation VRTSjre Patch for Daylight Savings Time is available at http://support.veritas.com/docs/290708
The VRTSspt Support Package patch for this release is available at http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/290334
Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) Support
VCS requires that all nodes in the cluster use the same processor architecture and
run the same operating system version.
VEA service takes a long time to start
VEA service takes a long time to start if the configuration contains large number of LUNs (1403191)
In configurations with large numbers of LUNS which need to be discovered, the VEA service may take a long time to start. The long start-up time may cause the boot time to be longer than is allowed.
Workaround:
The solution is to start the VEA service in the background, so that the boot continues while the LUNs are discovered.
To start the VEA service in the background:
1. Edit the VEA start-up script.
For Storage Foundation 5.x, use the following command:
# edit shell script /opt/VRTSobc/pal33/bin/vxpalctrl
2. In the start_agent() function, add the following line:
exit 0
Before the lines:
max=10
count=0
Incident 1092052 - Creation of space-optimized instant snapshots
When creating space-optimized snapshots with the vxsnap make command, the operation may fail with the following error messages:
VxVM vxassist ERROR V-5-1-10128 Transaction aborted waiting for io drain VxVM vxassist ERROR V-5-1-407 Attempting to cleanup after failure ...
VxVM vxassist ERROR V-5-1-6078 Cleanup operation failed, volumes in temporary state INST_MAK are required to be deleted manually and volumes with state INST_SRC need to be cleared.
or with these error messages:
VxVM vxassist ERROR V-5-1-10128 Cache volume for cache object is too small VxVM vxassist ERROR V-5-1-407 Attempting to cleanup after failure ...
This issue is under investigation by Symantec. There is currently no known workaround.
Incident 1090431 and 1089025 - System becomes unresponsive while synchronizing full-sized instant snapshots
When synchronizing full-sized instant snapshots with the vxsnap syncstart command, the system may become unresponsive, or the operation may fail with the following error message:
VxVM vxsnap ERROR V-5-1-6840 Synchronization of the volume <snap-vol> stopped due to I/O error
This issue is under investigation by Symantec. There is currently no known workaround.
Runinstaller for Oracle base installation 10.2.0.1 does not show Japanese characters on SUSE
In a Japanese locale, the runinstaller for the Oracle base installation of 10.2.0.1 does not display properly on SUSE. For more information, refer to 6384607.992 at the Oracle MetaLink web site http://metalink.oracle.com/
Cluster Management Console
- Incorrect path in the enable_security.csh script
When you run the enable_security.csh script, the script displays the following message [913307]:
./enable_security.sh: line 1: /bin/wc: No such file or directory
Workaround:
Edit the enable_security.sh script to include the correct path. Replace the line /bin/wc with /usr/bin/wc.
- The enable_security.csh script does not detect the state of the Cluster Management Console (CMC) service group
If you run the enable_security.csh script after taking the CMC service group offline, the script displays the following message [927313]:
Group is not offline on all systems. Please offline the CMC group on all systems in the cluster before running this script.
Workaround:
Edit the enable_security.sh script. Replace the following lines
# Get the number of systems on which the CCAvail group is offline.
OFFLINECOUNT=`$HAGRP -state CMC | $GREP "\|OFFLINE\|" | $WC -l`
with
# Get the number of systems on which the CCAvail group is offline.
OFFLINECOUNT=`$HAGRP -state CMC | $GREP "|OFFLINE|" | $WC -l`
