Problem
Managed Objects with applied quota policies not visible in Storage Exec 5.5 GUI after cluster failover
Solution
Details :
Under certain conditions after failover between cluster nodes of a shared volume that is monitored by Storage Exec 5.5 space allocation policies, the managed resource for these quotas will not be visible in the Storage Exec GUI. When the condition occurs you will also not be able to apply new space allocation policies to the system but will receive an error message saying:
The parameter is incorrect
The issue is known to affect both Microsoft and Veritas Cluster Services
Workaround :
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
- Fail the group(s) containing the shared volume(s) back over to the other node.
- Open Regedit on the affected node
- Locate the following registry key
HKLM\\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QaFilter\Parameters
- Modify the DisabledVolumes value so that it contains no data.
- Fail the groups(s) back to the node
Your original managed resources with applied Quota policies should now be visible and it should also allow you to apply a quota policy to a new managed resource
