Overview:

Enterprise Vault 7.0 Upgrade Path

Supported upgrade paths for Enterprise Vault 7.0, Compliance Accelerator 7.0, and Discovery Accelerator 7.0.
  • EV 7.0 will support upgrades from EV 6.0 and its service packs. EV 5.0 customers will need to upgrade by installing EV 6.0 first.
  • DA 7.0 will support upgrades from DA 6.0 and its service packs. DA 5.0 customers will need to upgrade via DA 6.0 but their configuration files will be preserved.
  • CA 7.0 will support upgrades from CA 6.0 and its service packs. CA 5.0 customers will need to upgrade via CA 6.0 but their configuration files will be preserved.

For any customers still running Enterprise Vault 5.x, Enterprise Vault 6.0 SP3 can be downloaded from the support site to assist in the upgrade process.

The Enterprise Vault 5.x license keys will work with the Enterprise Vault 6.0 upgrade.


Enterprise Vault 7.0 Licensing

Enterprise Vault 7.0 implements an all new licensing technology. Enterprise Vault 7.0 no longer uses the FlexLM license key technology, but instead incorporates the Symantec Enterprise Licensing System (ELS). Since it is an entirely new licensing infrastructure, this means the old Enterprise Vault FlexLM licenses, used in all versions prior to version 7.0, will not work with the Enterprise Vault 7.0 product. All customers must acquire new ELS license keys as part of their upgrade to version 7.0.

All new and existing customers will use the Symantec Licensing Portal to obtain and manage their license keys. The licensing portal is located at  http://licensing.symantec.com

All customers under maintenance will be emailed an Upgrade Notification Letter. The letter will provide a unique Notification ID and a Customer number. The letter will have instructions to visit the licensing portal and select the Symantec Version Upgrade Center. Upon registering the Notification ID and Customer number the software version upgrade will be available for download and/or a request can be completed for a media kit to be mailed at no additional charge. After registering customers can obtain new license keys through the License Management Center within the Symantec Licensing Portal.
