Problem
Symantec Backup Exec 11d for Windows Server Hotfix 2 - Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) installation overwrites the "setup.ini" file as a result DLO agents can not be deployed.
Solution
Installation of Backup Exec 11d DLO Hotfix 2 on the DLO server overwrites the existing "setup.ini" file. This leaves the file almost empty and as a result, DLO agents fail to get deployed.
Workaround:
To resolve this issue, manually rebuild the "setup.ini" file with the following entry in order to point the file to proper database and instance name as given below:
1. Browse to the DLO folder on your Media "<InstallDir>\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\DLO".
2. Open the
setup.ini file using notepad.
3. Add the following information in the "setup.ini":
[Startup]
packagename = Symantec Backup Exec Desktop Agent.msi
cmdline =/qf DEFAULTMEDIASERVER="MEDIA SERVERNAME" DLODBINSTANCENAME="BKUPEXEC" LAUNCHCLIENT="1" /l*v "%TEMP%\DLOAgentInstall.log"
Note: DLODBINSTANCENAME in the above mentioned example, can be BKUPEXEC or BKUPEXECDLO depending on whether this is a fresh install or an upgrade of Backup Exec 11d. Media Server name = the name of the DLO Media Server.
