Solution

Service pack or Patch installation may roll back if the Backup Exec server prior to the installation had been renamed, even if the new server name and domain had been updated in BEUtility.

The bkupinst.log shows that Backup Exec is searching for the old machine name and the installation fails.

Solution:
1)Go to C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{B85BA2E5-BD10-4B9D-AE29-BC11947A834D}\ BEInstParams.prm-Fig.1.

Fig.1.

2) Rename the BEInstParams.prm to BEInstParams.old

3)Re-run the installation.

Note: BEInstparams.prm is an encrypted file which stores the machine name, domain name, user account, password and serial numbers of the Backup Exec installation.

Deletion of the old BEInstParams.prm and re-running the installation regenerates the BEInstparams.prm with the new machine name and domain name.
