Problem
Installation of Backup Exec 11d fails if MSXML 4.0 SP2 is installed on the machine in any language other than English.
Error
V-225-235: MSXML 4.0 failed to install.
V-225-235: MSXML 4.0 SP2 failed to install.
Solution
The Installation log (bkupinst.htm) indicates the error message below:

The failure of the installation is because the MSXML 4.0 SP2 module name is different for every language.
- MSXML 4.0 SP2 English - MSXML.MSI
- MSXML 4.0 SP2 Japanese - MSXMLJPN.MSI
- MSXML 4.0 SP2 German - MSXMLGER.MSI
The Backup Exec 11d installer searches for the MSXML 4.0 SP2 module, but cannot find the file name of languages other than MSXML 4.0 SP2 English. Therefore the installation of Backup Exec 11d fails if MSXML 4.0 SP2 of languages other than English have been installed.
Workaround:
As a workaround, perform the following:
1. Copy all files and folders from the Backup Exec 11d installation CD to the local disk (C:\11d etc.).
2. Copy the concerned language module i.e MSXMLJPN.MSI or MSXMLGER.MSI
to C:\11d\WINNT\INSTALL\MSXML.
3. Run C:\11d\Browser.exe.
