How to install Service Pack 3

Before installing this service pack, please refer to the section titled "Special Installation Instructions." After reviewing the "Special Installation Instructions," follow the steps listed under the section titled "Installation Procedures" to install the service pack. Several issues addressed in this service pack also require additional post-installation steps. Please refer to the Related Documents links for further instructions.

Special Installation Instructions

This section contains additional installation instructions for installing Service Pack 3.

Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) - 32 bit

After installing Service Pack 3 to the Backup Exec 10.1 media server, install the Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) to all of the remote computers protected by Backup Exec by following the Remote Agent for Windows Servers installation procedure in the Backup Exec Administrator's Guide.
Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) - 64 bit

After installing Service Pack 3 to the Backup Exec 10.1 media server, Backup Exec 10.1 for Windows Servers revision 5629 Hotfix 1 "Extended 64-bit Remote Agent for Windows Servers" must also be installed. This is true even if Hotfix 1 had already been previously applied. For more information about Hotfix 1, please reference the Related Documents section at the end of this TechNote. You must follow the installation instructions included with the 64-bit Remote Agent to correctly install the agent on a server running a 64 bit OS.

Microsoft Cluster

Before installing this Service Pack to Backup Exec 10.1 media servers on each node of a Microsoft Cluster, stop the Backup Exec services using "Cluster Administrator."

SAN Storage Option (SSO)

Before installing this service pack on a Backup Exec 10d media server that is using the SSO option first make sure that there are no backup or restore operations running on any of the media servers in the SAN.
Apply this service pack to the primary SAN SSO server first then to all of the secondary servers.

Central Administration Servers

Before installing this service pack on a Backup Exec 10.1 Central Administration Server (CAS), communication must be disabled between the CAS and all Managed Media Servers (MMS).
1. Open the Backup Exec User Interface
2. Click Media Servers
3. Right-click on each MMS and clear the Communication Enabled check box

After this service pack is installed, enable communication between the CAS and all MMSs.
1. Open the Backup Exec User Interface
2. Click Media Servers
3. Right-click on each MMS and select the Communication Enabled check box

Agent for R/3 for Oracle

After installing this service pack to the Backup Exec 10d media server, you must reinstall the "Remote Agent for Windows Servers" to all SAP R/3 computers being protected by Backup Exec. To reinstall the Remote Agent, type the following from the SAP R/3 server:
msiexec.exe /p "<path>\SAPR3.msp" REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus
Note 1: <path> = path to the \Backup Exec\NT\Agents\R3 directory on the Backup Exec media server
Note 2: This service pack can only patch previous installations of the Backup Exec Agent for R/3 for Oracle (it does not patch the original installation source files for the Agent for R/3 for Oracle). This service pack places a "patch" file (SAPR3.msp) in the \Backup Exec\NT\Agents\R3 directory on the media server. If installing the Backup Exec Agent for R/3 for Oracle to additional SAP R/3 computers in the future, run the command above after the initial agent installation to install the patch.
