Backup Exec Command Line Utility (BEMCMD) created Shadow Copy Components (SCC) backup jobs fails with error: "Final error: 0xe000fec2 - A failure occurred accessing the SnapShot".


Error



An error occurs while attempting to create a SSC backup job using BEMCMD. (Figure 1)

Final error: 0xe000fec2 - A failure occurred accessing the SnapShot.

Cause



The possible causes of the error are:

  • Backup Exec Windows Server (BEWS) and Advanced Open File Option (AOFO) are not installed.
  • BEWS and AOFO installed but not specified within the script file.
  • BEWS and AOFO installed but specified within the script file not to be used.

Solution



This has been resolved in Service Pack 1 for Backup Exec for Windows 11d 7170.
