DOCUMENTATION: The hostname of a NOM server must be included in the Trusted Server list of any managed master server.

Solution

Overview:
NetBackup Operations Manager (NOM) server is not collecting data and reports managed server as offline.

The NOM server is showing the managed server is offline but no data has been collected.

Troubleshooting:
This error has been seen with new NOM installations.  The master server to be managed is online.  The NOM server is correctly configured and includes the managed server.

If the NOM configuration appears correct then check the server list on the NetBackup server that is being managed.

Log Files: N/A

Resolution:
The hostname of the NOM server is not included in the Trusted Server list of the managed master server.

In the administration console, use the Host Properties node of NetBackup Management on each managed master server to add the NOM server name.

Alternatively, the server name may be added to the /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf file of a UNIX master:
SERVER = nomserver
