Special Installation Instructions

This section contains additional installation instructions for installing this hotfix.

Microsoft Cluster:
This hotfix must be installed on all nodes of the cluster. After installing this hotfix on the primary node, use the cluster administrator to move the BEWS group to the failover node, and run the installation again for each node of the cluster.

SAN Storage Option (SSO):
Before installing this hotfix on a Backup Exec 11d media server that is using the SSO option first make sure that there are no backup or restore operations running on any of the media servers in the SAN.  Apply the hotfix to the primary SAN SSO server first then to all of the secondary servers.

Central Administration Servers:
Before installing this hotfix on a Backup Exec 11d Central Administration Server (CAS), communication must be disabled between the CAS and all Managed Media Servers (MMS):
1. Open the Backup Exec User Interface
2. Click Media Servers
3. Right-click on each MMS and clear the Communication Enabled check box

After the hotfix is installed, enable communication between the CAS and all MMSs:
1. Open the Backup Exec User Interface
2. Click Media Servers
3. Right-click on each MMS and select the Communication Enabled check box

Agent for R/3 for Oracle (both 32bit and x64bit):
After installing this hotfix to the Backup Exec 11d media server, you must reinstall the "Remote Agent for Windows Servers" to all SAP R/3 computers being protected by Backup Exec.
To reinstall the Remote Agent, type the following from the SAP R/3 server:
msiexec.exe /p "<path>\SAPR3.msp" REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus

Note 1: <path> = The path to the \Backup Exec\NT\Agents\R3 directory on the Backup Exec media server.
Note 2: This hotfix can only patch previous installations of the Backup Exec Agent for R/3 for Oracle (it does not patch the original installation source files for the Agent for R/3 for Oracle). This hotfix places a "patch" file (SAPR3.msp) in the \Backup Exec\NT\Agents\R3 directory on the media server. If installing the Backup Exec Agent for R/3 for Oracle to additional SAP R/3 computers in the future, run the command above after the initial agent installation to install the patch.

LiveUpdate Installation Procedure (for Backup Exec 11d only):

To install this hotfix on a media server using LiveUpdate, within the Backup Exec console go to 'Tools > LiveUpdate'. By default LiveUpdate will be launched in Express mode and after clicking next any available patches will be installed.
In order to see the hotfix(s) that are available first and then choose which to install, it is necessary to change the mode from Express to Interactive.
To do this, go to 'Options > Configure' on the initial LiveUpdate screen and change the install mode. The Interactive mode will also allow more details to be seen about each available update before it is installed.
