Modification Type: Addition.

Modification:
As indicated in Microsoft Q article 824126 (  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824126 ), Microsoft does not support the restore of publi  folders to a Recovery Storage Group.
From the article:

"You can only recover mailbox stores to a Recovery Storage Group. You cannot restore a public folder store to a Recovery Storage Group because that action is not supported."

It is possible to restore the public folders to a Recovery Storage Group, however, the data cannot be accessed by Exchange.  Do NOT try to mount the restored Public Folder database inside the Recovery Storage Group.  Third party utilities are available that can extract data from these restored public folders.  The information in this technote is provided so, if desired, the public folders can be restored for use with one of these third party utilities.

On the Exchange client do the following:
1. Open the Exchange System Manager (ESM).
2. Navigate to the Original server or Recovery Server
3. Create Recovery Storage Group
4. Right Click and select "Add Database to Recover"
5. Select any database from the same server where the public folder exists.
6. From the Database Properties Screen
7. Change Name to [Public Folder Database Name] and click OK

Then open the NetBackup Backup, Archive, and Restore GUI, and do the following:
1. Click Select for Restore
2. Change Policy type to be MS-Exchange-Server
3. Select Public Folder Store & Log Files
4. Select Actions
5. Start Restore of Marked Files

6. From the Microsoft Exchange Tab
- Uncheck "Delete existing transaction logs prior to restore"
- Uncheck "Commit after restore completes"

7. Click Restore Marked Files Tab
- Select Restore everything to a different location (maintaining existing structure).
- Change Destination to: Microsoft Information Store:\Recovery Storage Group\

8. Select Start Restore

Restore should complete successfully, and the public folder store is available for third party applications to extract data.
