Problem
The Symantec Enterprise Vault (tm) Automatic Classification Engine (ACE) database cannot be moved from its default installation folder.
Solution
Overview:
Some SQL Database Administrator's prefer to have all databases in the same folder on the SQL server in order to simplify database backup procedures. The Enterprise Vault Automatic Classification Engine installs the ACE database in the C:\Program Files\Orchestria\Active Policy Management\system\data folder as the default location. This location is specified in the DataLocation registry value in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Orchestria\Active Policy Management\CurrentVersion\Properties key.
Moving the ACE database to another folder on another drive and updating the DataLocation registry value causes the Automatic Classification Engine to stop functioning.
Resolution:
Moving the ACE database and updating the DataLocation registry value are not supported and should not be done.
Warning:
Uninstalling the Automatic Classification Engine after moving the database to another folder on another drive and updating the DataLocation registry value to point to that folder causes all files within that folder to be deleted immediately or upon server restart if files are in use at the time of the uninstall. For example, moving the ACE database to the same folder as other databases, updating the DataLocation registry value to refer to that folder, then uninstalling ACE will cause all databases in the folder to be deleted.
