If RAWS is installed on a SAP R/3 computer, or on a x64 bit computer or 64 bit (Itanium) computer, see the Special Installation Instructions below.

SPECIAL NOTE: Regarding Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) - Extended 64 bit (x64)

No updates are available for the Backup Exec 10.0.5520 x64 Remote Agent for Windows Servers. Please upgrade to Backup Exec for Windows Servers 10.1.5629.

Symantec Backup Exec (tm) 10d rev. 5629 for Windows Servers Installation Files

Symantec Backup Exec (tm) 10.1 (10d) for Windows Servers revision 5629 - Service Pack 3 - Includes Critical Security Updates

10.1.5629 (10d) Hotfix 49 - Backup Exec for Windows Servers Security Update * Requires Backup Exec 10.1.5629 Service Pack 3

Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) - 64 bit (Itanium)

After installing Service Pack 4 to the Backup Exec 10.0 media server, you must reinstall the "Remote Agent for Windows Servers" to all 64 bit computers being protected by Backup Exec.

Microsoft Cluster

Before installing the Service Pack to Backup Exec 10.0 media servers on each node of a Microsoft Cluster, stop the Backup Exec services using "Cluster Administrator."

Central Administration Servers

Before installing the service pack on a Backup Exec 10.0 Central Administration Server (CAS), communication must be disabled between the CAS and all Managed Media Servers (MMS).

1. Open the Backup Exec User Interface

2. Click on the Media Servers button

3. Right-click on each MMS and uncheck the Communication Enabled check box

After the service pack is installed, enable communication between the CAS and all MMSs.

1. Open the Backup Exec User Interface

2. Click on the Media Servers button

3. Right-click on each MMS and select the Communication Enabled check box

Agent for SAP R/3 for Oracle

After installing this service pack to the Backup Exec 10.0 media server, you must reinstall the "Remote Agent for Windows Servers" to all SAP R/3 computers being protected by Backup Exec. To reinstall the Remote Agent, either right click on the SAPR3.msp and select install or type the following from the SAP R/3 server:

msiexec.exe /p "<path>\SAPR3.msp" REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus

Note 1: <path> = path to the \Backup Exec\NT\Agents\R3 directory on the Backup Exec media server

Note 2: This service pack can only patch previous installations of the Backup Exec Agent for R/3 for Oracle (it does not patch the original installation source files for the Agent for R/3 for Oracle). This service pack places a "patch" file (SAPR3.msp) in the \Backup Exec\NT\Agents\R3 directory on the media server. If installing the Backup Exec Agent for R/3 for Oracle to additional SAP R/3 computers in the future, run the command above after the initial agent installation to install the patch.

OR

2. Copy the installation files to the remote server from the path C:\Program Files\Veritas\Backup Exec\Agents\RANT32 then from a command prompt on the remote server change directories to the path the files were copied to and run setupaa.cmd

The following issues require additional post-installation steps:

  • Lotus Notes backups - Random databases skipped

  • SQL restore fails if backed up with a share that has the same name as the server
Please be sure to review the Related Documents section at the end of this article for additional information regarding these issues.
