New Daylight Savings (DST) patch for Storage Foundation for Windows 5.0 Veritas Enterprise Administrator running on Windows 2003 Server (x32, x64, IA64) and Microsoft Windows Vista.

Solution

Overview:

The new US Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes for 2007 may affect Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) Graphical User interface (GUI). The time sensitive information like time shown in events/notifications will be shown incorrectly by 1 hour during Daylight Saving Time period.

VEA GUI relies on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) which depends on Java Runtime Environment (JRE) shipped with VEA GUI. Therefore, to address the impact of the DST 2007 changes, JRE have been updated with "DST time zone updater" tool. To make this changes effective, the operating system on which VEA server (managed by VEA GUI) is installed must be in compliance with DST changes 2007. Refer to operating system vendor's web site for more information.
Installation:
1) Download the attached package (1069764_290848.exe) and extract to a temporary folder.
2) Execute the VRTSobgui.msi to install the package.
3) See the Readme.txt for more information.

Note: There is a known issue after the installation of this package that VEA might not open. Should this problem occur, follow the procedure outlined in technote 293039 for resolution. The link to the technote is located in the Related Documents section below.
