Problem
The Backup Exec System Recovery 7.0 (BESR) Installation (Setup.exe) or bootable Symantec Recovery Disk (SRD) Files cannot be located on the BESR Download Site, CD, or ISO Image
Solution
In earlier
versions of Backup Exec System Recovery, both the bootable System Recovery Disk
(SRD) and the Product Installation Software were included on the same CD or ISO
Image.
In Backup Exec
System Recovery 7.0 (BESR 7.0) Windows PE 2.0 is used for the Symantec Recovery
Environment. This version is based on Windows Vista, is much larger than the XP
versions of PE, and needs more space on the CD. As a result, BESR 7.0 is
delivered on two separate downloads or CDs; the first one being the bootable
Symantec Recovery Disk (SRD - restores backups and recovers a computer)
and the second disk is the Product Installation CD that contains the
Setup.exe File.
Please
note: The BESR Trialware Site only has the Product Installation Software
available for the 30 day evaluation period. The bootable SRD can only be
obtained once the product has been licensed and via the FileConnect Website or
BESR Reseller.
If the BESR
Product Installation Files or bootable System Recovery Disk (SRD) are not
available:
1. Login to the
Symantec File Connect Site:
2. Select the
Preferred Language.
3. Enter the
Product Serial Number (Figure 1)

4. Agree to the
License Agreement (I Agree).
5. Select the
Product Version (Figure 2)

6. Select the
Download Method (Figure 3)

Please
note: The Managed Download Selection allows for both zipped files to be
selected at the same time, verses HTTP that only enables one selection for
download at a time. Regardless of which method is used, make sure both the
Product Installation Files (Product File which contains the Setup.exe to install
BESR) and the bootable Symantec Recovery Disk ISO Image (SRD - to restore
backups and recover computers) have been download or are available prior to
leaving the FileConnect Website. For more information regarding the
download methods, click on the link "Which download method should I use
?"
7. Make the
File Selection(s), then click the "Begin Downloading" Button (Figure

8. Extract the
downloaded zipped files. Setup.exe can be browsed to via Windows Explore
to install the BESR Software or the files can be copied to a CD to install the
software from at a later time. The SRD ISO Image must be burned to a
bootable CD-Rom for a complete disaster recovery of a machine to be performed
with.
