Problem
When performing a Verify operation, does Backup Exec compares the data on tape to the data on hard disk?
Solution
When Backup Exec (tm) performs a verify operation, it does not compare the files on the tape with the files on the hard disk. Instead, Backup Exec performs a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) verification of the data on the tape. This CRC verification ensures the data was stored correctly and read properly from the tape.
During a Verify operation, there will be minimal disk activity and network traffic (if on the network).
