Problem
Rapid Fire Updates (RFUs) fails to download updates
Solution
Which web sites are used to download Patch Deployment update files? Either of the following conditions may apply:
- Proxy servers are used for accessing the internet.
- The Bindview Information Server (BVIS) is located behind a firewall.
- Proxy settings are required for accessing the internet
- Firewall settings are blocking connectivity to the update site(s)
- Launch the RMS Console.
- Configure RFU Global Configuration Settings (proxy) if necessary.
- Configure proxy and/or firewall settings to allow access on port 80 to both of the following websites:
- https://rfu.bindview.com/rfu/rfuwebservice.asmx
- http://xml.shavlik.com/data/name_of_file , where name_of_file is each of the following:
- PD5.xml
- hfnetchk5.xml
- cl5.exe
- safereboot.exe
- Launch Internet Explorer.
- On the file menu, click Tools | Internet Options.
- Click the Advanced Tab.
- Check the box "Use HTTP 1.1 through Proxy Connections" under Settings.
- Restart the BVIS.
