Rapid Fire Updates (RFUs) fails to download updates

Solution



Which web sites are used to download Patch Deployment update files?  Either of the following conditions may apply:
  • Proxy servers are used for accessing the internet.
  • The Bindview Information Server (BVIS) is located behind a firewall.
One or more of the following conditions may apply:
  • Proxy settings are required for accessing the internet
  • Firewall settings are blocking connectivity to the update site(s)
PREREQUISITE:  RFU client is installed. 
  1. Launch the RMS Console.
  2. Configure RFU Global Configuration Settings (proxy) if necessary.
  3. Configure proxy and/or firewall settings to allow access on port 80 to both of the following websites:
  4. Launch Internet Explorer.
  5. On the file menu, click Tools | Internet Options.
  6. Click the Advanced Tab.
  7. Check the box "Use HTTP 1.1 through Proxy Connections" under Settings.
  8. Restart the BVIS.
