How to mount a recovery point as a virtual hard disk drive letter on the Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) client system
Solution
Mounting a Recovery Point as a virtual hard disk drive letter allows the use of Windows Explorer search capabilities to search for various files by file type or by name. A mounted drive can use various disk utilities such as antivirus engines to scan the recovery point in this virtual drive state for viruses.
To mount a recovery point as a virtual hard disk drive letter:
Version 7.x
1. Click Start > All Programs > Symantec > Backup Exec System Recovery > Backup Exec System Recovery
2. Click Tools
3. Click Run Recovery Point Browser.
4. Navigate to and select a recovery point by *.v2i or *.v2i file extension.
5. Click Open.
6. In the hierarchal tree left-hand panel of the Recovery Point Browser, select the file name of the recovery point.
Example: C_Drive001.v2i.
7. Click File > Mount Recovery point
Note: Record the drive letter the virtual drive will be

9. A windows Explorer window should pop open, or appear minimized on the start bar showing the contents of the recovery point as the virtual drive letter in step 7.
