Problem
When attempting to activate the license, for Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR), an Invalid License Error occurs
Cause
The Invalid License Error occurs due to the SLF License File(s) for previous version(s) of the BESR Product ,still located in the Symantec\Licenses Folder.
Solution
.
To resolve this issue:
1. Stop the BESR Service.
Start Menu | Programs | Administrative Tools | Services OR Right click on My Computer | Manage | Services and Applications | Services.
In the Services window, find Backup Exec System Recovery and stop the service.
2. In Windows Explorer, navigate to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Licenses.
3. Delete the SLF file.
NOTE: If there is more then one SLF file, right click on each one and open it using Note Pad to find out which one is for BESR, then look for a line starting with <product_name>
4. After the previous SLF file has been deleted from the license folder, restart the Backup Exec System Recovery Service, launch BESR and click on the Help Menu. An option for adding a license file should be visible.
