Error

"ED800001 unable to find data at offset 0 in image.."

Solution

When attempting to restore an image in the Symantec Recovery Environment, after selecting the image the following error occurs:ED800001 unable to find data at offset 0 in image..."

Resolution:

A fix for Backup Exec System Recovery 6.5 is available. Please contact Symantec Technical support for a modified ISO file.

The following may also by useful in working around this issue:

Update Backup Exec System Recovery to the most current version.

Assuming that the Recovery Point can be verified in the Recovery Point Browser, then do the following:

1.Boot into the Symantec Recovery Environment, Browse to, and select the recovery point to be restored
2.Prior to doing the restore deselect the following options:
"Verify recovery point before restore,"
"Check for file system errors,"
"Resize drive to fill unallocated space"

If the above does not work, the following tests can be used as troubleshooting steps to verify image integrity:

  • Verify the image within the recovery point browser.
  • Verify the image can be mounted in the Recovery point browser.
    Additional troubleshooting steps to restore:

  • Restore only the system partition, Restore additional data partitions from within Windows.
  • Restore the image from a local drive to verify that this is not a connectivity issue.
  • If a database exists on the volume being imaged ensure the VSS service is set to automatic and started before creating the recovery point
  • If restoring multiple volumes, try this without using the *.Sv2i file (restore each volume separately)
