Note: The options for LiveState Recovery Management Control only apply to agents managed by LiveState Recovery Manager 6.02)

This document describes the deployment installation or uninstall of LiveState Recovery using tools such as Active Directory login script, SMS or some other mobile automation tool.
 
Adding unmanaged computers without installing the LiveState Delivery Agent

To add unmanaged computers without installing the LiveState Delivery Agent

1. Depending on the MSI packages to be installed, make sure that the Symantec LiveState Recovery Manager product CD is available before continuing:

The MSI packages are located at the root of the product Symantec LiveState Recovery Manager CD in the MSI folder.

2. Identify the computers to be backed up by the Symantec LiveState Recovery agent.

Note: The .NET Framework, required for Symantec LiveState Recovery agent, must be installed on remote computers. If .NET Framework is already installed on the computer at the time of installation, it is not  required to reinstall .NET.
Type dotnetfx.exe

Language versions of .NET Framework are available in the MSI folder on the Symantec LiveState Recovery Manager CD.

To install an MSI package, use the following syntax.
Type msiexec /i"<LiveState Recovery filename.MSI >" REBOOT=R PQPUSH=Y TRANSFORMS=<language code>.MST

-To install the agent in silent mode use the optional /qn parameter.

-Use /l*v C:\Install.log if to create a log file of the agent install at the root of C:

-The REBOOT=R parameter suppresses a reboot of the computer. It is a required parameter following the installation of the Symantec LiveState Recovery agent.

-The PQPUSH=Y is a required agent install parameter. If you do not use this parameter, the install will fail.

-The optional TRANSFORMS=<language code>.MST parameter lets the user view the install in the native language of the operating system. When using this parameter, make sure the associated
.MST file is located in the same folder as the .MSI file that is being installed. The language transform codes are as follows:

1031 - German
1036 - French
1040 - Italian
1041 - Japanese

No transform language code is needed for English because it is the default install language for the Symantec LiveState Recovery agent.


Symantec LiveState Recovery agent The Management Control component must be installed last.

Type msiexec /i "Management Control.msi" Address=https://IP Address:8443
- Use the optional /qn parameter to install Management Control in silent mode.

Uninstalling Management Control from computers
When the Management Control component is removed, the remote computer will no longer communicate information back to the Symantec LiveState Recovery Manager server. However, the computer will remain in the Symantec LiveState Recovery Manager console and database. Typically, when removing a managed computer from Symantec LiveState Recovery Manager, first uninstall the Management Control component from remote computers, and then uninstall Symantec LiveState Recovery.

To remove Management Control component from computers

-Perform one of the following:

.Use Microsoft Windows Add or Remove Programs to uninstall Management Control from the computer.

.Identify the computers with Management Control that need to be uninstalled, and then type the following syntax.
MsiExec.exe /X{EFB12305-EF60-407F-BEF0-86A2288C1757}


Uninstalling the Symantec LiveState Recovery agent from computers
The Symantec LiveState Recovery can be uninstalled from one or more selected computers, or from all computers in a computer group that have been created.

When Symantec LiveState Recovery is uninstalled, the remote computer will automatically be rebooted. This uninstall is intended for the Symantec LiveState Recovery agent MSI packages that ship with Symantec LiveState Recovery Manager.

Note: The Management Control component must be first uninstalled before uninstalling the Symantec LiveState Recovery agent.

To uninstall Symantec LiveState Recovery on managed computers:
-Use the appropriate uninstall method. Use Microsoft Windows Add or Remove Programs feature to uninstall Symantec LiveState Recovery from the computer. All versions of Symantec LiveState Recovery

Identify the computers with Symantec LiveState Recovery Advanced Server that need to be uninstalled and then type the following syntax.

REBOOT=R SAVEDATA=0

Identify the computers with Symantec LiveState Recovery Standard Server that need to be uninstalled, and then type the following syntax.

Identify the computers with Symantec LiveState Recovery Desktop that need to be uninstalled, and then type the following syntax.

MsiExec.exe /X{A8EA8A55-FDBE-4875-B598-DDC15B298165}
REBOOT=R SAVEDATA=0
Symantec LiveState Recovery Desktop

The SAVEDATA parameter can be set to 1 (all jobs and backup history data will be saved) or 0 (all jobs and backup history data will be deleted). The reboot (REBOOT=R) parameter is necessary following the removal of Symantec LiveState Recovery. The reboot will occur later.
