LiveState Recovery (LSR) and Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) do not display volume information

Error

Error: Retrieving required information

Solution

When opening the console, error displays in the status bar at the bottom of the dialog box and no volume information is displayed.
Solution:
The error occurs because BESR is unable to enumerate the volumes. To resolve this issue:
1. Check Disk Management and verify that there are no ghost volumes, volumes not in use, or that should be deleted.
2. Compare Disk Management with the SeaST partinfo to see if they match and there are no discrepancies between them.
3. Resolve any disk/volume errors by running chkdsk /r or the manufacturer disk utility to resolve issues.

Other Troubleshooting steps and fixes
Does the machine have Dynamic spanned or mirrored volumes?
   - check the event application or system log to see if errors exist.
A machine getting this error when using Dynamic spanned volumes may see the following error(s) in the Backup Exec System Recovery Log.txt and event log:
Error EC8F1780: Cannot successfully reconcile changes since last session. Error EC8F1771:
Cannot enumerate the current drives on this system. Error EC8F03EC: Cannot initialize the Storage Management Engine.
Error EC8F1C25: CHECK failed, Ldm::DatabaseImpl::GetVblk: .\LdmDatabaseImpl.cpp(242): v.GetSignature() == "VBLK".
Details: Unspecified errorError EC8F1780: Cannot successfully reconcile changes since last session
A fix for this above specific issue is available here
To apply the fix:
i. Stop the Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) service
ii. Extract and replace the VproSme.dll file in the \Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec System Recovery\Agent folder
iii. Start the BESR service
