Problem
Duplicate message (original and shortcut) show in Exchange when configured in mailbox policy not to delete original item after archiving and not to create a shortcut after archive.
Solution
This can occur if Offline Vault is enabled on the
workstation and the Exchange Mailbox policy is configured to 'Delete original
item after archiving' and 'Create shortcut to archived item after archiving' is
disabled. By design if Offline Vault is enabled the Site and Mailbox settings
will be overridden by the Offline Vault setting.
Dtrace of the Archive Task will show the following:
(ArchiveTask) <3048> EV:H [CArchivingAgent::ProcessUserEx]| User /o=Organization/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=user is enabled for Offline Vault. Site and mailbox settings will be overridden as follows:| Shortcut creation will be forced| Shortcut expiry will be prevented |
(ArchiveTask) <3048> EV:M EFP - Folder Policy Settings| Filter Type = Using users default policy| Archive Settings Locked = FALSE| Override Locks = FALSE| Delete Original = FALSE [LOCKED]| Create Shortcut = TRUE [LOCKED]| Archive unread items = TRUE [LOCKED]| Archiving based on : Age Based Settings [LOCKED]| Inactivity Period = 0 Days| Not using Size Priority Settings
Solution:
Note: By design if Offline Vault is enabled the Site and Mailbox settings will be overridden by the Offline Vault setting.
To resolve this issue disable Offline Vault for that user.
