Error, 'An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified,' when attempting to assigned a static IP address to a network card in the Backup Exec System Recovery recovery environment.

Error

A command line error saying, 'An error occurred while releasing
interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file
specified.

The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this
operation'

Solution

Cause:

Possible network interface card (NIC) driver conflict can cause this error.

When selecting from the Network tab the IP configuration utility to Renew/Release the IP configuration picked up from a DHCP present on the network when network services started in an attempt to assign a static IP address to this NIC, if the driver is incorrect, could generate this error.

Resolution:

Create a Symantec Recovery Disk CD using the automatic creation option from a same model system having this specific network interface card.
