Problem
Hotfix for Enterprise Vault (EV) for Microsoft Sharepoint 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Build 1397, Internet Shortcuts are not being created when items are archived from a non-English Sharepoint Portal Server (SPS)/Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS) 2007 sites.

install this hotfix?
The Hotfix
needs to be installed on all SharePoint front end web servers
As best
practices, make sure to have a backup of the system before making any
changes.
1. Stop the
SharePoint archiving task on the Enterprise Vault Server(s).
2. On
all Sharepoint Servers, take a copy of the
KVS.EnterpriseVault.SharePointWebService.dll that currently exist in the
Sharepoint 'ISAPI' folder. E.g.:
C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\ISAPI
3. Overwrite
the KVS.EnterpriseVault.SharePointWebService.dll file on all the
Sharepoint Servers.
4. Install the
KVS.EnterpriseVault.SharePointWebService.dll assembly into the Global Assembly
Cache (GAC):
- Open a command prompt and change directory to the EV program files directory. E.g.: > CD C:\Program Files\Enterprise vault)
- Run the gacutil utility to add the assembly to the GAC within the Enterprise Vault directory. E.g:
C:\Program Files\Enterprise vault> gacutil /f /i "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\12\ISAPI\KVS.EnterpriseVault.SharePointWebService.dll"
5.
Restart Internet Information Services (IIS) on the Sharepoint
Servers
6. Restart
the SharePoint archiving task on all EV Servers
How to
uninstall this hotfix?
1. Stop the
Sharepoint archiving tasks
2. Copy the
original modules back to the Sharepoint Server(s).
3. Run the
Global Assembly Cache to install the original
KVS.EnterpriseVault.SharePointWebService.dll assembly.
4. Restart IIS
and the Sharepoint Archiving tasks
