DOCUMENTATION: Additional information on using the Windows NetBackup 6.0 client with NetBackup Operations Manager (NOM) 6.5.

Solution

Manual: Veritas NetBackup Operations Manager Guide Windows and Solaris Release 6.5, Page: 26

Modification Type: Supplement.

Modification:
On page 26, the second bullet down under "Choosing a server where NOM is installed" reads as follows:

"NetBackup 6.0 (or later) client must be installed on the NOM server. NOM uses the NetBackup client software to configure and view VxUL logs written by NOM and NetBackup. You also can use the client software when you back up and restore NOM."

This is correct for both Windows and Solaris.

For Windows, however, if the NetBackup 6.0 client (any MP level) is installed, NOM must be installed silently using the Veritas NetBackup Operations Manager.msi file.  If it is necessary to use setup.exe to install NOM, the NetBackup client must be upgraded to 6.5 before installing NOM.
