Problem
Backup job fails with the error "The media in the storage device was changed"
Error
V-79-57344-34033 - The media in the storage device was changed.
Solution
When the above error occurs, check the System Event Viewer Log for the hardware related events. If the log reports hardware errors, such as Event IDs 9 or 11, the issue may be occurring due to a hardware issue. In this case, contact the hardware vendor to install the latest firmware for the tape drive and/or robotic library to potentially resolve the issue. If the errors still occur afterward, perform the following steps:
1. Check the properties on the tape drive(s) in Windows Device Manager to ensure that the latest Symantec Tape Device Drivers are installed. For information about downloading and installing the latest Symantec drivers, please see the following link:

2. Confirm that the make/model of the tapes are what the manufacturer of the tape hardware supports and recommends.
3. Run an Inventory and Quick Erase jobs on the tape media.
