Solution

When attempting to boot from the Backup Exec System Recovery Disk (SRD) the following error occurs:

Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.
    Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.

This error could indicate an issue with the SRD detecting/using specific pieces of hardware attached to the system to be restored.

Consider the following when troubleshooting this issue:

Rebuild the destination RAID array. - If RAID array is incorrectly configured, or from a previous restore attempt became incorrectly configured, this error can occur. Rebuild the RAID array as unallocated space following its manufacturer's specifications.

Detach removable storage devices. - Detach any removable storage devices that are not currently being use to store the recovery point images needed for this restore attempt and try booting from the SRD. If a removable storage device does store the recovery point images needed in this restore attempt, test by unplugging the device and see if the system can successfully boot from the SRD. If successful, consider restoring the recovery points image this removable storage device stores over the network by attaching and sharing the device from a second system.

Clean and inspect the CD/DVD drive use by the SRD. -  If the CD/DVD drive optics are dirty may prevent this drive from properly loading from the SRD disk and generate this error. If SRD disk is excessively warm or hot to the touch when ejected from the CD/DVD drive indicates poor cooling/ventilation and could result in CD/DVD to malfunction and generate this error.

This error could also indicate that there was a problem in the creation of the Recovery Disk from its ISO file. Re-download the ISO file for the Symantec Recovery Disk from FileConnect  https://fileconnect.symantec.com Burn at a slower speed the new ISO image to a new piece of media, then retry booting from this newly created SRD.
