The Exchange Management Shell must be used to suspend replication before performing a restore of a Microsoft Exchange Local Continuous Replication (LCR),
Continuous Cluster Replication (CCR) database, or Microsoft Exchange 2010/2013 Database Availability Group (DAG) copies.

Error

0xe000ff05 - Before you can restore a Microsoft Exchange LCR, CCR, or DAG database, you must use the Exchange Management Shell to suspend replication.

Solution

When restoring an Exchange 2007 Server that is running Local Continuous Replication (LCR) or  Continuous Cluster Replication (CCR) or when restoring
Exchange 2010/2013 Database Availability Group copies, replication will need to be suspended prior to the restore.

To suspend replication for Exchange 2007 CCR, do the following:

To stop CCR from running:
Suspend-StorageGroupCopy -Identity:"Server\StorageGroup"

To Verify that CCR has been suspended:
Get-StorageGroupCopyStatus -Identity:"Server\StorageGroup"

To Start CCR:
Resume-StorageGroupCopy -Identity:"Server\StorageGroup"

To suspend replication for an Exchange 2010/2013database copy, do the following:

To stop a database copy:
Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity databaseName

To Verify that a database copy has been suspended:
Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus -Identity databaseName\Server

To resume a database copy:
Resume-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity databaseName\Server
