Problem
Application down with 'system.out.of.memory exception' error received by Enterprise Vault (EV) Compliance Accelerator (CA) or Discovery Accelerator (DA) export operations
Error
system.out.of.memory exception
Solution
Overview:
Enterprise
Vault (EV) Compliance Accelerator (CA) and Discovery Accelerator (DA) export
operations can fail on specific messages with the error shown above. Low
memory resources can be a result from lack of disk space, memory leaks, or
several concurrent running programs.
SOLUTION:
1) Log onto the
EV server running the EV Storage Service and the CA/DA server as the Vault
Service Account (VSA)
2) Open Task
Manager
3) Sort the
Processes by memory usage, with the largest memory usage on top
4) Review the
processes using the most memory for any process that may have a known memory
leak
5) Stop any
application that the check in Step 4 reveals to have a memory leak
6) Navigate to
Control Panel | System | Advanced | Environmental
Variables | Edit User variables for VSA
7) Move the VSA
TEMP and TMP folders to a local hard drive with over 40 gig available free
space
8) Restart the
server to complete the change in the folders' locations
9) Change the
export folder path to a larger drive per TechNote 330545 in the Related
