Solution

Overview:
The robotic volume group naming convention has changed from NetBackup 5.x to 6.x. The Symantec's Veritas NetBackup (tm) 5.x to 6.5 Upgrade Guide discusses the need to change the robotic volume group name to be consistent with the 6.5 format.
Troubleshooting:
Please note the following for systems that use NetBackup Vault:
- If NetBackup Vault is installed, it is necessary to change the robotic volume group names to work with NetBackup 6.5.
- NetBackup versions prior to 6.0 use the following robotic volume group name format: twocharacters_threecharacters_robotcontrolmode
- NetBackup versions 6.0 and later use the following robotic volume group name format:  threecharacters_fivecharacters_robotcontrolmode

Resolution:
After an upgrade from 5.x to 6.x, the Volume Group that was used for the robot will remain in place. New media brought into the robot will use the 5.x robotic volume group convention because it is the default volume group name for the robot. To change the default robotic volume group, please take the following actions.
1. From the Administration Console, under Media and Device Management, select Media. Sort the media by Volume Group.
2. Highlight all the media in the 5.x robotic volume group name.
3. Right-click the highlighted media, choose the Move option.
4. From the Move Volumes dialog, set the Volume Group to standalone, ---.
5. Once the move is complete, run an Inventory Robot from the Actions menu.

Once the inventory is completed, the new robotic volume group convention will be created.
